In our series of #CEDIAShares blogs, we’re talking with exhibitors about the hottest technologies and trends they’re looking to see at CEDIA Expo/CIX 2025.
Q&A with James Chen, managing director at Kordz.
Why exhibit at CEDIA Expo/CIX 2025?
CEDIA Expo is the global hub for smart home professionals, where standards, certification and education come together to define and elevate the industry. It plays a vital role in the journey to becoming a true professional in this field. We’ll be there because the Kordz team contributes at all levels — standards development, whitepapers, certification programs, and leadership. And of course, it’s always a great time to reconnect with our long-standing industry peers, check our pulse and relevance, and meet new people who are helping shape the future of smart homes.
What is the most exciting trend you expect to see at the show?
AI and its application in residential AV integration. This is a train that’s leaving the station whether we like it or not, so it’s best to get on board. I believe it offers tremendous potential, but we must also be very careful how we go about it.
What will you focus on at the show?
Right now, two of our key product focuses at Kordz are HDMI and outdoor connectivity. As the dominant platform for audio and video transmission, HDMI remains essential, and Kordz is leading the way with the launch of our new PRO4 cable, delivering 48 Gbps up to 100m without external power required. We’re excited to show integrators this cable’s 20 kg pull-force rating in action as it “holds its own” by suspending a box of Cat6 cable while powering a live TV throughout the show. By popular demand, we are also releasing a new ONEv2 18Gbps Passive HDMI Cable, designed to provide integrators a reliable, economical, and more eco-friendly HDMI solution for high-volume residential projects.
Then, with the growth of outdoor applications, reliable and secure connectivity is more important than ever, and we’re helping integrators tackle this with an expanded line of professional-grade outdoor networking and speaker cabling. It’s all about extending high-performance entertainment — both audio and video — beyond a home’s four walls, supported by smarter transmission technologies like Dante and PoE. This line also enables seamless outdoor security and communication, powered by robust, reliable Internet connections that remain stable regardless of weather or interference, and solutions like our ultra slim and flexible new SlimCat Outdoor Cat6 Network Cable make tricky and retrofit projects so much quicker and easier. We’re looking forward to taking integrators through all the new options available.
