CEDIA Shares: Atlona

Atlona talks discovering new ways to adopt AV over IP in residential environments at CEDIA Expo 2019.

In our series of #CEDIAShares blogs, we’re talking with exhibitors about the hottest technologies and trends they’re looking to see at CEDIA Expo 2019.

Q: Why CEDIA?

GARTH LOBBAN: CEDIA brings a unique mix of residential and hospitality-focused dealers and integrators together under one roof. Unlike the other tradeshows we exhibit at, CEDIA maintains a very precise focus on these areas. In addition, it’s a great way to help our customers move into the broader light commercial space.

Q: What is the most exciting trend you expect to see at the show?

GL: Discovering new ways to adopt AV over IP in residential environments. AV over IP was born as strictly a technology for commercial AV verticals such as corporate and education, but has now evolved to serve our customer base at CEDIA. Light commercial customers jumped in first, with one Atlona example being an AV over IP system to feed video walls displays at DJT, the sports bar and restaurant in Trump Tower Las Vegas. And now, we are finally seeing adoption taking place in residential, including a recent installation to distribute AV content around a luxury cottage property in Toronto.

Q: What will you focus on at CEDIA Expo 2019?

GL: We are expanding our narratives in the hospitality market. We will demonstrate how OmniStream can be applied in various hospitality settings, such as a casino, a themed restaurant, or a hotel space. OmniStream, with its capabilities to provide long-distance signal transmission, multiple zones, and even video walls makes it a perfect solution for our partners. That value is further enhanced when controlled using our Velocity IP-based AV control platform.

We will also focus on residential solutions with our Opus Series of HDMI-to-HDBaseT matrix switchers; as well as Dolby Vision for AV over IP systems in high-end homes. Atlona remains the only supplier to offer Dolby Vision capability for AV over IP. We also look forward to greeting our guests with a happy hour all three days of show at Booth 2497.
