McIntosh has announced the launch of the C55 Solid State Preamplifier and the C2800 Vacuum Tube Preamplifier.
C55 Solid State Preamplifier
The C55 inherits the legacy of its predecessor, the C53, and elevates the home audio experience to new realms. The C55 features an 8-band analog equalizer to fine-tune music with precision, creating a personalized audio experience —and the equalizer can be bypassed if desired.
C2800 Vacuum Tube Preamplifier
At the heart of the C2800 lies methodically designed vacuum tube circuitry. Leveraging the latest designs to all but eliminate noise and distortion, the C2800 reduces them to minuscule levels. Its four vacuum tubes, or valves, deliver a listening experience that transcends expectations. The C2800 offers a tailored audio experience to optimize performance to each user’s individual specifications. Electronic bass and treble circuitry allow for volume level adjustments of low and high frequencies in precise 1 dB steps. In addition, the C2800 remembers tone control circuitry bypass settings for each input.
Shared C55 and C2800 Performance Features
Each preamplifier boasts 16 inputs, including 9 analog and 7 digital connections. From analog to digital, the C55 and C2800 accommodate a plethora of sources, including turntables via their adjustable phono inputs along with audiophile-grade DAC technology for exquisite digital audio conversion.
With three sets of stereo balanced and unbalanced outputs, the C55 and C2800 offer flexibility in connecting to power amplifiers. Their design allows for bi-amping configurations and personalized audio experiences tailored to each listener’s preferences. A Processor Loop, something not available on the last few generations of McIntosh preamplifiers, makes its return and allows for seamless integration of external processors.
New McIntosh Connect App (Coming April 2024)
In addition to using the included remote control or the front-panel controls, users can have the option to connect the C55 and C2800 to their home network and unlock a world of control possibilities through the new complimentary McIntosh Connect app that is available for both Android and Apple devices. With the Connect app, users can seamlessly control key functions, receive firmware updates, and enhance the listening experience with added convenience.
