In our series of #CEDIAShares blogs, we’re talking with exhibitors about the hottest technologies and trends they’re looking to see at CEDIA Expo/CIX 2025.

Q&A with Brad Cook, head of product and integrations, Alfred International.

Why exhibit at CEDIA Expo 2025?
CEDIA Expo is where we connect with the heart of the smart home industry. It’s the best place to engage directly with integrators, builders, and technology partners who are shaping modern living spaces. For Alfred, it’s an opportunity to showcase how smart locks can deliver both form and function — elevating security, convenience, and design in residential and MDU environments.

We build smart locks that don’t just look good on a door; they solve real-world challenges for integrators, property managers, and builders. At CEDIA Expo, we can show firsthand how our products combine design, fire-code compliance, and next-gen integration into scalable solutions for homes, MDUs, and rentals. It’s also where we connect with the community that influences what gets installed — and trusted — in today’s most connected properties.

What is the most exciting trend you expect to see at the show?
We’re seeing a huge push toward even deeper convergence between access control and whole-home integration platforms. The rise of flexible, interoperable systems is creating huge opportunities for smart locks to become an essential part of the connected living experience — from energy management to remote concierge services. That interoperability is vital for access control, and we’re excited to see continued momentum behind long-range protocols like Z-Wave 800, deeper integrations into platforms like Alarm.com, Brivo, Control4, and URC, and broader conversation around access as a service. Integrators need flexible, future-ready solutions — and we’re ready to meet them there.

What will you focus on at the show?
We’re spotlighting two solutions designed to expand where and how smart locks can be deployed. First is our Interconnect Kit, which transforms any Alfred deadbolt into a fire-code-compliant interconnect lock — delivering single-motion egress for secure exit without giving up modern access control. That’s a gamechanger for retrofit and multi-family properties where code compliance can be a blocker.

We’re also showcasing the DB1 Pro, a robust, professional-focused smart lock offering triple-access convenience — PIN, Bluetooth, and key — with optional Wi-Fi and Z-Wave 800 Series Long Range add-ons. It’s a perfect fit for rental properties, smart homes, and MDUs, with built-in encryption, a sleek touchscreen, and flexible connectivity that scales with the ecosystem.

Together, these products represent what Alfred does best: combine beautiful design, meaningful tech, and practical features that work in the real world.
