Q&A with Anders Storm, CEO of Dirac.
Why exhibit at CEDIA Expo 2026?
CEDIA Expo is where some of the most important conversations about the future of home audio take place, because it brings together the integrators, manufacturers, and technology leaders pushing the industry forward. For Dirac, it’s always been a valuable chance to connect face-to-face with that community and demonstrate what advanced room optimization can really make possible in real-world systems.
This year feels particularly special because we’re celebrating Dirac’s 25th anniversary. We’ve come a long way from our beginnings in university research, yet our mission has stayed remarkably consistent. We’re constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, developing technology that overcomes the acoustic limitations of the listening environment to deliver better sound. CEDIA gives us the perfect opportunity to celebrate how far we’ve come with the industry and, more importantly, to look ahead to where audio technology is headed next.
What is the most exciting trend you expect to see at the show?
I’m really drawn to the ever-evolving role software plays in how an audio system ultimately performs. There’s tremendous innovation happening on the hardware side, and software gives us the ability to unlock even more from that hardware by optimizing performance for the unique acoustics of the room someone is actually listening in.
That’s part of what makes the recent launch of Dirac Live Processor so exciting for us. It brings Dirac Live Room Correction, Bass Control, and Active Room Treatment together in a single software platform for compatible PC- and Mac-based systems, so we can extend our room optimization technologies to even more systems and applications. I think this is where the industry is ultimately headed, with software opening up new possibilities for how we design, optimize, and experience high-performance audio.
What will you focus on at the show?
We’re excited to give attendees the opportunity to experience Dirac Live Active Room Treatment in a StormAudio demo room calibrated with Dirac. There’s really no substitute for hearing the technology in action, and the demo will showcase how ART uses the speakers in a system together to actively reduce room resonances and control sound decay, helping improve clarity, imaging and bass performance.
We’ll also be spending a lot of time with our partners and the integrator community, talking about where room acoustics and immersive audio are headed and what they need from us next. After 25 years, that exchange is still incredibly important to how we think about and act on innovation at Dirac. CEDIA gives us the chance to demonstrate where the technology is today and have the conversations that help shape where we take it from here.
