Q&A with Paul Hales, President, Pro Audio Technology and Theory Audio Design
Q: Why CEDIA?
PAUL HALES: CEDIA Expo is the largest trade show we exhibit at each year and is particularly valuable because, unlike regional shows, we are able to connect with a large group of qualified dealers, reps, and international distributors. CEDIA Expo gives us the opportunity to introduce and educate our customers, media, and industry partners on our latest loudspeaker and amplifier offerings. It is also a venue to discuss technology improvements and AV industry trends to inspire and aid in future product development. At CEDIA Expo, PRO is also renowned for its standout home theater demos year-after-year—and that’s a reputation we intend to uphold this year!
Q: What is the most exciting trend you expect to see at the show?
PH: The use of immersive audio formats in home theater applications, such as Dolby Atmos, is a trend that continues to grow and we expect to see expanded product offerings along with a larger category of source material to support these formats at CEDIA Expo. Another category that continues to explode is distributed audio with more and more manufacturers offering solutions that can be integrated and controlled throughout the entire home.
We look forward to hearing (as well as demonstrating) the latest and greatest in loudspeaker and amplifier technology to support these exciting trends.
Q: What will you focus on at CEDIA Expo 2019?
PH: Between the two brands, we have a lot of new gear to introduce to CEDIA Expo attendees this year. At the Pro Audio booth, SR-6, we will display and demonstrate new and improved loudspeakers and amplifiers, which are by far the best products we have ever produced both in sound quality, specifications, as well as fit and finish.
Also, at CEDIA Expo 2019 we will officially launch Theory Audio Design. Previewed at CEDIA 2018 and shipping this fall, Theory loudspeakers and amplified loudspeaker controllers marry PRO’s acoustic performance with contemporary design to bring large-scale professional sound to residential and commercial installations where aesthetics and installation flexibility are essential.
