Guifx Offers iPad-Compatible User Interface Kit

Guifx, an interface design studio specializing in touchscreen interfaces for home automation and embedded systems, has released its Victoria User Interface (UI) Kit, which is the company’s first UI to be compatible with Crestron's Mobile G iPad application.

Guifx, an interface design studio specializing in touchscreen interfaces for home automation and embedded systems, has released its Victoria User Interface (UI) Kit, which is the company’s first UI to be compatible with Crestron’s Mobile G iPad application.

Unlike solutions with floor plan navigation, Victoria utilizes a room grid layout, providing an organized method of selecting and receiving feedback from rooms. Icons representing each room or zone improve the user experience even further by speeding up visual recognition. Click here to see more screen examples.

Utilizing Guifx’s QuicKey navigation system, navigating away from an AV activity to adjust lights or climate settings becomes a simple, one-touch operation, according to the company. Non-AV activities open in a modal window, which is closed to return to the previous screen and back to automation functions.

Unlike solutions with floor plan navigation, Victoria utilizes a room grid layout, providing an organized method of selecting and receiving feedback from rooms. Icons representing each room or zone improve the user experience even further by speeding up visual recognition.

To provide a gentler user experience in darkened conditions, such as when operating a dedicated home theater, a low-light mode dims the background to be less distracting and easier on the user’s eye.

The UI offers six themes: light, medium, and dark, each available with a wood grain or soft-wash finish.

“We are very proud to introduce our new Victoria UI Kit. For infrequent users such as houseguests, who have had little or no interaction with the interface, it is exceptionally easy to use,” said Morgan Strauss, director of operations at Guifx. “In addition, our room grid layout offers several advantages over floor plan navigation, which can be difficult in massive, multi-floor dwellings. Add to this the simplicity of our QuicKey navigation, a low-light mode, and a sophisticated, elegant design, and you have the ultimate interface for any high-end environment.”

The Victoria UI Kit is available for download now on Guifx’s website in sizes ranging from 240 x 320 to 1280 x 768.

Currently, the UI is available for Crestron systems, with other vendors to be added in the coming weeks.

Pricing starts at $499.99 for a 240 x 320 kit, while the Crestron Mobile G Kit is available for $799.99. A bundle is available that includes all sizes in addition to the Crestron Mobile Kit for $2,999.99.
